Question: What’s the true carb count on yoghurt?  Everywhere you read something different.

The reason that there are so many varied levels of carbohydrate content in yoghurt is that the ingredients in yoghurt varies quite a lot.  Apart from milk, you have all the flavours, the fruits and even the type of milk that’s used, each of which will cause a different level of carbohydrate.

Generally speaking, the ones with the highest carbohydrate level are going to be the low fat type, so those are the ones that are best avoided.

However, it’s not difficult to make yoghurt at home, and if you’re lucky enough to be able to make it from raw milk, then you’re really onto a tasty winner. The carb content for that will be almost identical to that of the milk you use to make it.
